Bullock Joinery Ltd has achieved FSC® & PEFC Chain of Custody certification. We are the only joinery manufacturer in Hereford to offer this. Our materials come from well managed and other controlled sources. Should you wish your joinery products with full chain of custody certification, always make this clear to us at the order stage as not all timber products are available as FSC or PEFC certified.

Consumers, public authorities, retailers, construction companies and those charged with corporate procurement decisions are increasingly seeking assurances regarding the environmental provenance of the products they purchase. The only way that a company may demonstrate that they are passing on the sustainable credentials of their suppliers is to implement their own chain of custody through an independent Chain of Custody system. Once implemented, the system will need to be certified by an independent certification body to ensure that it meets the criteria set by either the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC) or The Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes (PEFC).

What is FSC?

The Forest Stewardship Council® is an international organization promoting responsible forest management. FSC has developed principles for forest management of forest holdings, and a system of tracing, verifying and labelling timber and wood products, which originate from FSC-certified forests. FSC has the support of many environmental groups.

This gives our customers credibility with their business partners as well as financial institutions and watchdog organizations. FSC certification helps to protect our and your brand and reputation and it allows access to highly environmentally sensitive markets. Increasingly, governments, charities, financial institutions and retailers specify FSC certified products in their procurement programs.

FSC Chain of Custody certification tracks the FSC certified material through the production processes all the way to end user allowing a “hand on heart” approach to the sustainable credentials of the products we produce.

What is PEFC?

PEFC stands for the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes and is an international, non-profit organization that is primarily made up of representatives of the forest products industry. Unlike FSC, it does not set specific standards but is an umbrella group that incorporates different national forest certification schemes (e.g. the national scheme in Finland is endorsed by the PEFC). This is intended to make the forest certification easier and more applicable to different types of forests.
